Anti-Dumping Duty to Boost ‘Make in India’ | Maulik Patel
To safeguard the domestic industry against unfair trade practices, the Indian government has imposed anti-dumping duty on imports of certain industrial laser machines used for cutting, marking or welding. The duty, valid for five years, ranges from 24.66% to 147.2% of Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF), depending on the producer.
Maulik Patel, Executive Director, SLTL Group considers anti-dumping duty as “a right initiative at the right time” and will boost ‘Make in India’. He adds, “Since the time the anti-dumping duty is imposed, a lot lot of joint ventures started happening. There will be a level-playing field wherein the Indian manufacturers will be actually empowered rather than to trade.”
Sharing his vision for the SLTL Group, Maulik said, “We are already exporting to 45 countries and our vision is to reach 100 countries by 2025. We would like to be a global company.”
