Beckhoff | Automation Expo 2024 Special
At the heart of the Automation India Expo 2024 in Mumbai, Beckhoff Automation, a leader in PC-based control technology, captivated attendees with its cutting-edge solutions. In an exclusive tour, mojo4industry explored the Beckhoff booth, where their experts shared insights into innovations that are transforming smart manufacturing. From the eXtended Transport System (XTS) to the MX-System, Beckhoff’s offerings are driving efficiency and flexibility in modern manufacturing processes.
The tour began with a welcoming introduction from Ajey Phatak, Country Manager Marketing at Beckhoff Automation – India. Then Sales Manager Sachin Bolade introduced the audience to the XTS with No Cable Technology (NCT), a revolutionary system that enhances efficiency in smart manufacturing. Beckhoff‘s XTS or eXtended Transport System offers optimal solutions for various applications, Sachin informed. He elaborated on the system’s components, stating, “The XTS consists of two main components: the mover and the motor module. We have developed new motor modules and electronics that can be mounted on the movers, enabling wireless data transfer between the motor modules and the movers. This allows us to directly power modules such as barcode readers or pick-and-place assemblies. We are demonstrating how we operate a vacuum pump and cups through these power outputs. This technology not only streamlines operations but also opens up new possibilities for customization and flexibility in production lines.”
Harshad Joshi, Area Sales Manager, unveiled the MX-System, a compact and modular automation hardware solution designed to replace conventional control cabinets. “The MX-System is a cabinetfree automation solution that offers a fully modular setup, allowing you to integrate it directly into or onto your machine with IP67 protection,” he noted. “This setup eliminates the need for wiring and skilled labor, significantly reducing machine setup time. The modular design not only minimizes the machine’s footprint but also enhances overall efficiency. With the MX-System, we are offering a solution that simplifies the automation process, making it more accessible and scalable for various industrial applications. It’s a game-changer for manufacturers looking to optimize space and resources.”
Senior Application Manager Yogesh Mali highlighted the expansion of Beckhoff’s Vision portfolio, which now includes hardware such as illuminations, cameras, and lenses, in addition to the existing TwinCAT Vision software. He further added, “With this complete set of Beckhoff products, we can address all Vision application needs. By integrating machine vision directly into the automation platform, we eliminate the need for separate vision systems, which streamlines the production process and reduces complexity. This approach allows manufacturers to achieve higher precision and quality in their operations.”
