EATON is an intelligent power management company | Syed Sajjadh Ali | ELECRAMA 2023
“We have started calling ourselves as an intelligent power management company, not as a power management company,” said Syed Sajjadh Ali, Managing Director – Electrical Sector (India), Eaton while explaining the importance of quality power amidst mega energy trends.
EATON’s EV journey
Electric vehicle (EV) is being considered as the sunrise sector in India. Talking about how EATON is strengthening its footprint in India’s growing EV market, Syed said, “in India, we have been associated with the EV sector for quite some time. In our Pondicherry plant we have been making the state-of-the-art fuses for the electric vehicles. Today, we are working with many EV manufacturers in developing fuses for them. Apart from that, we are also getting into the EV charger business.”
EATON @ ELECRAMA
At ELECRAMA 2023, EATON showcased a 30 kW EV charger and also announced the launch of a 120 kW EV charger. Further, the company plans to come up with a 240 kW charger which can charge a heavy truck, informs Syed. He adds, “All these chargers are going to be manufactured in India in our Pondicherry plant and through these initiatives we are becoming integral part of India’s EV journey.”
Making in India for the Globe
EATON is also committed to ‘Make in India’ initiative. From a 40% import content 2 years ago, it has reduced it to 20% today. Furthermore, EATON is exporting its “Made in India” products to North America, Middle East and Europe. “We have more than USD 25 million of export from our Pondicherry plant,” informs Syed.
Targets
Commenting on Eaton Electricals’ short-, mid- and long-term objectives to achieve in India, Syed said, “We are gaining market share exponentially and we will continue to do that. We do not want to put our hands all around. We are very carefully choosing the adjacencies. We are very carefully trying to track ourselves to the mega trends in technology and align ourselves towards some of that. I think we are doing good and we will continue the same approach.”
