Hartek executes rooftop solar power plant at Golden Temple

Hartek Solar Pvt Ltd, the rooftop solar division of the Chandigarh-based Hartek Group, has installed a 525 KW capacity solar power plant in the holiest of Sikh shrines, Harmandir Sahib, popularly known as Golden Temple, in Amritsar.

The scope of work of the project included complete site survey, design, engineering, supply and construction of the solar plant. This project was awarded to Hartek Solar by a US based NGO, United Sikh Mission.  The solar PV project will generate more than 7,40,000 units of clean electricity every year, thus offsetting around 2,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. United Sikh Mission has also awarded Hartek Solar with a 78 KW solar power plant at Gurudwara Baba Deep Singh and a 600 KW solar power plant in Gurdwara Bir Baba Budha Sahib.

Speaking on the occasion, Rashpal Singh Dhindsa, President of United Sikh Mission said, “Our mission is to ensure clean power supply round the clock at Golden Temple.” Noting that the monthly electricity budget of Darbar Sahib is around Rs 50-60 lakh, he urged the global Sikh community to contribute towards the initiative of empowering    Darbar Sahib with renewable energy.

Simarpreet Singh, Director at Hartek Group said, “I would like to thank United Sikh Mission for this once in a lifetime opportunity to give back to the community. It is truly an honour to be serving at Golden Temple.”
