PM inaugurates construction work of Agra Metro project

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated construction work of Agra Metro project in Agra, Uttar Pradesh through video conference. Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri; Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, and other dignitaries attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said, “This metro project, worth over Rs 8,000 crore, will strengthen the mission related to the establishment of smart facilities in Agra.”

The Agra Metro project comprises 2 corridors with a total length of 29.4 km and connects major tourist attractions like Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Sikandra with railway stations and bus stands. The project will benefit the 26 lakh population of the city of Agra and will also cater to more than 60 lakh tourists who visit Agra every year. It will provide an environment-friendly Mass Rapid Transit System to the historic city of Agra. The estimated cost of the project will be Rs 8,379.62 crore which will be completed in 5 years.

SJVN signs MoU with IREDA for Green Energy Projects

SJVN Limited, a PSU under Ministry of Power, has entered an MoU with Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA). Under the agreement, IREDA, a PSU under Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, will provide its services to SJVN for Green Energy projects.

Commenting on the occasion Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director said that as per MoU, IREDA will undertake techno-financial due diligence of renewable energy, energy efficiency & conservation projects for SJVN. Under the MoU, IREDA will also assist SJVN in developing an action plan to create and acquire Renewable Energy projects for the next 5 years.

While signing the MoU, Pradip Kumar Das, CMD, IREDA said, “The MoU highlights IREDA’s continuous efforts for the development of Renewable Energy sector in line Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. This is a transformational opportunity for IREDA and SJVN to work together forming a perfect synergy between both the organisation. It will also serve to facilitate knowledge and technology transfer and provide consultancy & research services, which will contribute to driving sustainable development of the country. We look forward to extending our consultancy services to other PSUs as well as private organisations for the development of the Renewable Energy Sector.”

VECV starts production at its new truck plant at Bhopal

VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd. started the commercial operations at its new truck manufacturing unit at Bagroda near Bhopal. This is the 8th manufacturing facility of VECV in the state of Madhya Pradesh and has been set up with Industry 4.0 standards. In the first phase, the plant will have the capacity to manufacture 40,000 trucks per annum.

The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the new manufacturing facility and flagged off the new trucks rolled out from this plant.

VECV is one of the large investors in Madhya Pradesh with an investment of more than Rs. 5000 crore in its eight plants. Apart from this, it has attracted more than 100 ancillary and other suppliers for supplying the parts required in the manufacture of trucks. As a result, VECV has generated direct and indirect employment for over 30,000 people including suppliers and associates.
