Maharashtra initiates global partnership for Green Energy
Maharashtra State Power Generation Co. Ltd. (MAHAGENCO) entered in collaboration with Australia and Germany by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Circular Economy Alliance Australia (CEAA) for adopting successful templates of circular economy on the areas of fly ash utilization and carbon footprint reduction.
The Australian continent has been successful in utilization renewable energy resources and is considered as a lead example. Circular economy is proposed to be a perfect model to enable future resource security, protect the environment and create a tremendous financial opportunity.
“Partnering with an impact agency like CEAA we expect to engage their expertise and strategy which are very much required for a progressive state like Maharashtra,” said Dr. Nitin Raut, Energy Minister, Government of Maharashtra.
“We have recently announced our Economic & Trade agreement between India and Australia which will focus on addressing the challenges on the trade side. Energy is one of the identified as one of the segments and Maharashtra as one of the key states and this initiative which has been taken by MAHAGENCO we will support through our Global Center of Excellence. On the energy segment, we recently signed a Letter of Interest on Ultra low cost solar and green hydrogen and we will be happy to support the initiatives of Govt. of Maharashtra,” said Vijay Shekhawat, Director – Infrastructure, Energy & Urban Development, Australian Trade & Investment Commission (AUSTRADE).
On operational technology upgradation, an MoU was signed between MAHAGENCO and STEAG INDIA on developing strategy for adoption of flexible operations of power plants. “In migrating to Flexible operations of power plant will impact the efficiency and will be challenging to produce energy at competitive rates. The MoU with STEAG INDIA and Germany will prepare MAHAGENCO for the challenges in the future,” said Sanjay Khandare, Chairman & Managing Director, MAHAGENCO.
