VDMA conducts 11th Mechanical Engineering Summit at Pune
The 11th VDMA Mechanical Engineering Summit – the annual flagship event of VDMA India was held on the 16th of September at Pune. Over 320 participants from 21 cities of India and Germany attended this event.
Present at the occasion, Rajesh Nath, Managing Director of VDMA India spoke about the Ukraine-Russia Conflict and how it has affected Global Supply chains and created major economic downturns in countries around the world. He explained that through the economics uncertainty created by global inflation, Ukraine-Russia conflict and the Covid pandemic, the Indian economy has not only remained stable but has developed in contrast to other countries. Further he mentioned about the partnership between the city of Bremen and Pune which is symbolised by the Bremen Chowk in Aundh. With more than 300 companies, Pune is a hotbed for the German industry in India. He also detailed the activities undertaken by VDMA India in 2022.
Chief Guest Achim Fabig, Consul General, Consulate General of Germany, Mumbai spoke about the fact that Indo-German relations are in a great position and that Germany is India’s biggest trading partner in the European Union. He emphasized the matter of environment and green industries and the joint effort of both the countries that are required to meet environmental goals that each country has set.
He also explained how green industries and sustainable energy is the main focus of the German Government as the Green Party is an important member of the current parliament.
Also present at the occasion, Dr. P Anbalagan, CEO, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation emphasised on Maharashtra being an industrial hub and how it is the top state for investment and for companies to set up production and operate with ease.
