Vitesco Technologies Delivers E-Drive to Honda

Vitesco Technologies, a leading global supplier of advanced drive technologies and electrification solutions, is providing Honda with its integrated axle drive EMR3 (3rd generation, Electronics Motor Reducer) for their new B-segment all-electric SUV. In Europe, this vehicle will be known as the e:Ny1 and is based on Honda’s latest e:N Architecture F.

The EMR3 is a cutting-edge 3-in-1 unit that combines power electronics, electric motor, and reducer. It represents the third generation of Vitesco Technologies’ integrated axle drives and has achieved significant success in the market.

Thomas Stierle, a member of the Executive Board and head of Vitesco Technologies’ Electrification Solutions, said “It is company’s honor in delivering the successful electric axle drive for Honda’s e:Ny1 model. This collaboration also serves as validation of Vitesco Technologies’ global strategy, which includes established manufacturing and R&D facilities in key markets worldwide.”

Despite its compact size and lightweight of only 76 kg, the axle drive for Honda delivers impressive performance with a peak output of 150 kW and 310 Nm of torque. This allows the e:Ny1 to achieve a limited top speed of 160 km/h. Honda refers to this integrated unit as a “3-in-1 drive unit.” The e:Ny1 will be available in the European market starting from October 2023.

Honda utilizes the electric axle drive in its new e:N Architecture F, which serves as a front-axle drive platform. The e:Ny1 model, a 4-door B-segment EV SUV, boasts a maximum range of 412 km (under WLTP test conditions).

The exceptional performance features of the axle drive have contributed to its widespread success. As of June 2023, Vitesco Technologies has manufactured over three quarters of a million units since 2019. The EMR3 has been selected by eight different vehicle brands, indicating strong and continuous demand.

Overall, this collaboration between Vitesco Technologies and Honda showcases the capabilities of cutting-edge drive technologies and electrification solutions, resulting in a successful and efficient electric vehicle offering in the market.
